  1. Calories measure energy, not nutritional value. Therefore while calories themselves are neither good nor bad, the foods that supply them can be good or bad. Theoretically, if the number of calories you consume is lower than the number you burn through activity, you'll lose weight. However, some foods promote the burning of calories while others don't. Without nutritionally rich calories in your diet your body may starve nutritionally, feel hungry more often. Calorically balanced foods are less important than nutritionally balanced foods. In fact, the goal of losing weight is rarely sustained while the body is nutritionally deficient. Focus on eating lean protein, healthy fats, and unprocessed, unrefined carbohydrates such as vegetables, beans, and fruit.   [edit]
